Homeward
Bound
Kane of England
slept 'neath a tree,
In the land of Africa, beside the great dark sea.
And with that sleep a spirit it had brung,
Which told him homeward bound he must come.
Kane asked the spirit why they meet,
And why not she slept the eternal sleep.
"I bring a message from your love,
For hands reach from high above.
She cries at night in anguish and pain,
for her lover Soloman Kane."
And with these words his mind caught fire,
His heart filled with dread and desire.
When he arose from sudden fright,
Himself alone in the bleak, black night.
Thinking back to his hometown Bree,
He knew his soul was never free.
So traveling hard through wind and hail,
He bent his his will and set his sail.
He crossed the ocean deep and blue,
Homeward bound to when he's due.
And walked the forests of the world,
Filled with danger and many a trial.
At last he walked the streets of Bree,
To claim his woman wife to be.
On reaching the house where he was led,
He found that she'd been two days dead.
Kane took up ship and sailed to sea,
Never again to be seen in Bree.
